Introducing Sandy from Oli & Frank

Tell us a bit about yourself:

I love chocolate, coffee, surfing, mountain walks and yoga. Add to that family, the cat and drawing silly drawings. Oh and whiskey too….

What inspired you to create this brand? 

As an illustrator I realised that products are more sellable than art and I also did not want to do commissions anymore. Having my own brand would enable me to decide exactly what I want to create.  

Can you tell me about the products you offer and what sets them apart from similar products on the market? 

All my products are printed, either digitally or screen printed and aimed at children, but that is slowly changing as I would like to make t-shirts and bags for all ages. I think that my designs are unique, even though other products are available like mine. 

What is the story behind the name of your brand? 

I struggled with coming up with a name, but in the end chose my children’s nicknames. Frank is actually Hannah, it’s a long story!

Are your products handmade or locally sourced?

Yes.

What are your future plans for the brand?

Expanding the range to includes adults.

How can consumers best support your brand and the local community? - By buying products online.

What do you love most about South Africa?

Live sit-com all day everywhere.

Is there anything you could say to someone wanting to start their own business?

Persevere.
